The 2008 University of Winnipeg High School Girl’s Volleyball Tournament took place this past Friday and Saturday at the Duckworth Centre. The tournament featured 14 of the top high school girl’s teams from across Winnipeg and Manitoba. The team from Westwood Collegiate finished in first place after defeating Vincent Massey (Brandon) 2-0 (25-21, 25-21) in the final. The Selkirk Royals finished the tournament in third place. Sonia Rossy (Westwood) was named the tournament MVP.
Season passes for Wesmen Basketball and Volleyball Home games/matches are now available at the Duckworth Customer Service Centre. The price is $50.00 which will entitle you to attend all regular season Wesmen home games for both sports. For more information please call (204) 786-9349.

The University of Winnipeg Wesmen Summer Camps were a great success once again this past summer. Over 800 participants took part in week long basketball and volleyball sessions during the months of July and August.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Head Coach Dave Crook, entering his eighth season with the Wesmen is currently putting his squad thru the early stages of practice. The team will feature a variety of returning players and impressive recruits who will look to make an impact this coming season. The team will participate in the annual Intersquad game next Wednesday (Sep 17) at the Duckworth Centre.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Head Coach and former Wesmen great Tanya McKay, entering her 13th season, is putting her team thru its daily practices in preparation for the 2008-09 season. Coach McKay has finalized her roster that features eleven returning players from last season’s roster. The team will hit the court in the annual Intersquad game next Wednesday (Sep 17) at the Duckworth Centre.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Head Coach Larry McKay begins his 20th season with the Wesmen. The team, coming off a silver medal performance at last years CIS Men’s Volleyball National Championships is currently going thru an intense training camp in preparation for the upcoming season. The team will be participating in the annual Intersquad match this Wednesday night at the Duckworth Centre.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Head Coach and former Wesmen standout Diane Scott entering her 14th season, is currently conducting the teams training camp in preparation for the upcoming 2008-09 season. Coach Scott has assembled an impressive roster with a good mixture of returning players and impressive recruits. The team will take part in the annual Intersquad match this Wednesday evening.
