SEARS NAMED TO CIS WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL ALL-ROOKIE TEAM
Wednesday, February 27, 2008 - The University of Winnipeg is pleased to announce that first year Women’s Volleyball player Lauren Sears has been named to the CIS Women’s Volleyball All-Rookie Team at the CIS Women’s Volleyball Championship awards banquet this evening in Fredricton, New Brunswick.
Sears, a 5’11 middle from Truro, Nova Scotia was a valuable addition to Head Coach Diane’s Scott team this past season. In her first year with the Wesmen, Sears finished the season second on the team in kills (132) and in blocks (45) and was a regular starter in the middle position for the team this past season.
Before joining the Wesmen, Sears was a member of the Central Nova Club18U team that captured the Provincial Championship in 2005 and 2006, Lauren also played a big part in leading her club team to the Great Nor’ Easter Tournament Championship in 2006-2007.
An accomplished student with an average of 85% in her final year of high school studies, she is currently studying biopsychology with ambitions to become a psychologist or psychiatrist in the future.
