JUSTIN DUFF NAMED CANADA WEST MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Monday, November 30, 2009 - The University of Winnipeg Wesmen in conjunction with the Canada West Universities Athletic Association are pleased to announce that men’s volleyball player Justin Duff has been selected as the Canada West Male Athlete of the Week for the period ending November 29, 2009.Duff, fourth year middle led the number nine ranked Wesmen to a pair of important victories over the Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack this past weekend at the Duckworth Centre. The 6’7” middle finished the two match series with 28 kills, seven blocks, six defensive digs and an attack percentage of .590. In Saturday’s opening match of the weekend, Duff had 12 kills to help the Wesmen to a 3-1 (27-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-18) victory. On Sunday, Duff was at his best once again leading the Wesmen with a match high 16 kills and three blocks to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-23) sweep.
Duff is currently in the top ten in several Canada West categories including: 2nd in hitting percentage (.457), 4th total points (155) and 7th in kills (3.47 kills per game).
