JAYE BURNETT COMMITS TO MENS VOLLEYBALL TEAM
Wednesday, May 6, 2009 - The University of Winnipeg and Head Coach Larry McKay are pleased to announce that Jaye Burnett from Lord Selkirk Regional Secondary School has committed to joining the Mens Volleyball program this September for the start of the 2009-2010 season.
Burnett 511, was captain of the Selkirk Royals Varsity Volleyball Team (2008-2009) and played a vital part in leading the Royals to their first MHSAA Final Four appearance in nine years. Jaye was a member of the 18U Provincial Championship squad and was named to the 2008-09 MHSAA All-Manitoba team and was named a graduating all-star. He was named an all-star at the MBCI and Selkirk Volleyball Tournaments. In 2006 he was honored with the 16U Provincial Team Players Choice Award at the Western Canadian Championships.
Jaye had an excellent high school and club season and is excited about playing the libero position. As one of the most important positions on the team, Jaye realizes the challenge will be great. He has the serve receive and defense to be good, said Wesmen Head Coach Larry McKay.
A multi sport athlete, Jaye was captain of the Selkirk Royals High School baseball team in 2007-08 and 2008-09.
Jaye contributes to the Selkirk community by coaching volleyball and running volleyball clinics.
