ERIKA WILLOWS SET TO JOIN WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM
Wednesday, November 4, 2009 – The University of Winnipeg and Women’s Volleyball Head Coach Diane Scott is pleased to announce that Erika Willows from Sturgeon Heights High School has committed to the University of Winnipeg Women’s Volleyball Program for the 2010-2011 season next September.Willows, 5’9” left side, is the current captain of the Huskies Varsity Girl’s Volleyball team and current member of the Jr. Wesmen Girl’s Volleyball 18U club team. Erika has been a member of multiple club championship teams and in 2007 was a member of the Shock Volleyball club team that won both the provincial and national titles. In 2008, Willows was instrumental in helping the Shock win their second consecutive Provincial championship and a silver medal at the Nationals. She was named an all-star at the Pepsi Challenge Volleyball Tournament in Halifax after helping Sturgeon Heights to a third place finish. A multi sport talent, Erika also excels at soccer where she was a member of the Woodhaven Hornets that won the city championships earlier this year. She has written articles for the Sturgeon Heights High School newspaper and maintained an 89% academic average last year.

Last season with the Jr. Wesmen we moved her from middle to left side and she did not skip a beat. She is an all-round solid athlete, a great player and leader”, noted University of Winnipeg Wesmen Head Coach Diane Scott.
