Edward Schreyer Barons Volleyball Player to Join
University of Winnipeg Wesmen Women’s Volleyball Team

Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - The University of Winnipeg is pleased to announce that Carleen Kruschel has committed to the University of Winnipeg Women's Volleyball Team for 2009.

Carleen Kruschel is a 5'10" Left Side Attacker, with a work ethic and attitude that is second to none! Carleen is a multi-sport athlete, with her main sport of choice being volleyball. Her intensity and leadership have helped propel her teams to succeed at all levels, her skill makes a team complete. Carleen=s Edward Schreyer Barons were MHSAA High School Girl's 3A Provincial Champions in 2005 and 2007. Carleen has been a member of multiple championship teams through club and Provincial Team programs, where she has garnered many All-Star and MVP honors.  She is a member of Edward Schreyer student council and is the editor of the school yearbook. Carleen, through all of her commitment has shown academic discipline and is a solid student, maintaining a 95% average, being named to the Honor Roll since grade 7.

We are very pleased to have an athlete of Carleen's caliber join our program, her enthusiasm, attitude and drive are important to a team environment. Carleen understands what hard work is, she thrives on the opportunity to prove herself time after time and is up for the challenge of university volleyball. Carleen is the type of athlete that every coach loves to have on their team, she will be willing to do whatever it takes to win!

According to Club Head Coach Craig McKenzie;
ACarleen Kruschel is the consummate team player, she works so hard of every minute of every practice, she hates to fail, she challenges herself all the time to be better. Her athletic ability and game sense are impressive, she is dynamic and more importantly she is a great leader on the floor. Carleen, I feel will be able to develop into a solid CIS player at the next level!
