The Jr. Wesmen are now in the Rising Stars Top Division after winning the B Division Championship last season. A highlight of the fall session (2011) was beating the Jr. Bisons for the first time in two years. The Jr. Wesmen expected to have a successful second half with coach Chubaty putting in a new "control" game strategy which emphasizes keeping game scores low, safer passes etc.

Jr. Wesmen Capture Div 2 Rising Stars Championship

Friday, May 27, 2011 - Behind the outstanding performances of Jeremy Gunn (25 points) and Daniel Sousa (16 points) the 14U Boy's Jr.Wesmen squad won the 2011 Rising Stars League.

After being in first place at the half way point of the season, the team dropped to third place after being handed some tough losses by the Lakers and Mayhem.

It was a different story at playoff time. The Wesmen defeated the Lakers 53-50 in the semi final and closed out the season with a come from behind 71-59 victory over Mayhem in the Championship Final. The team trailed by eight after the opening quarter and by five at halftime.


Jr. Wesmen Grade 8 Boy's Have Success At Grand Forks Tournament

Tuesday, April 5, 2011 - After losing their opening game to the eventual tournament champions, the Bismark Blast, the Jr. Wesmen team won four games in a row in a span of 20 hours to capture the Consolation Championship at the prestigious Grand Forks Basketball Classic this past weekend. The four wins in the tournament that featured 32 teams were a total team effort with different players having strong games.



Jr. Wesmen Boys Win Division

Wednesday, January 12, 2010 - The Jr.Wesmen Boys 14U team recently won the B League Rising Stars Division with a 7-1 record. The Lakers team was second at 6-2.

This past Sunday (Jan 9) the Wesmen defeated the Selkirk Royals 71-23. The victory clinched first place for the Wesmen in their division. The Rising Stars League is the highest caliber of basketball in Manitoba at that age level. In the victory over Selkirk the Wesmen were led by Adam Tabachnick's 19 points. The teams most improved player, Luke Savard added 13 points and Daniel Sousa finished with 12 points.


Jr. Wesmen 14U Boys Team Win Sixth Straight Game

The Jr.Wesmen 14U Boys team remained undefeated and improved their record to 6-0 with a come from behind win over Team Mayhem, the final score was 57-53. Parm Mangat was outstanding for the team scoring six key points in the final quarter.



Jr.Wesmen Boys Win Fourth Straight

Sunday, October 31, 2010 - Jeremy Gunn scored 25 points to lead the Jr.Wesmen to a 60-52 victory win over Anishinabe Pride. The victory improves the teams record to a perfect 4-0 on the season. Daniel Sousa added 17 points.



Jr Wesmen Win Opening Game


Sunday, October 24, 2010 - Behind a 16 point effort from Jeremy Gunn and 10 points from Daniel Sousa the Jr.Wesmen defeated the Southdale Lakers 62-55 to record their first win of the season.







2010 INTERNATIONAL CLASSIC FOR CLUB BASKETBALL TEAMS

Wednesday, Oct 27, 2010 - For the seventh consecutive year the International Classic will play host to the event of the year for "Club" basketball teams. Dual hosts, the The Jr Wesmen and Manitoba Magic basketball clubs, are encouraging all boys and girls teams from age 8 - 17 to register now for this prestigous tournament. The deadline for entries is Nov 23rd.
