WESMEN GREATS TAKE PART IN ALUMNI VOLLEYBALL MATCHES
Wednesday, September 24, 2008 – The 2008-09 Wesmen Volleyball season officially got underway with the Alumni Matches Wednesday night at the Duckworth Centre.
On the men’s side, the Wesmen Alumni defeated Larry McKay’s squad 2-1. Former greats such as Ben Schellenberg, Dustin Addison-Schneider, Stephen Ens were joined by an impressive group of alumni to take part in the match.
The women’s team earned a 2-1 victory over the Alumni. Former Wesmen standouts Nicola Dirks, Andrea Charbonneau and Jayme Menzies were some of the names that suited up for the alumni team.
Diane Scott and her team will see their first pre-season action against Canada West Conference opponents starting this Friday when they travel to Regina to take part in the University of Regina Invitational Tournament.
Larry McKay and the men’s team will see their first pre-season action on Thursday, October 2nd against the Manitoba Bisons at the Duckworth Centre. The match is a bonus attraction in the Lea Marc Volleyball Challenge.
