The craft and skills of the actor are useful in every aspect of life. We play to live. This class teaches focus, clarity and the mastering of several useful skills including: • Body language • Vocal tone and inflection • Awareness of self • Confidence • Visualization

Actor, writer, producer Ryan Black is a 20 year veteran of film, television, radio and the live stage. He has spent the last two years teaching for Manitoba Theater for Young People’s Aboriginal Arts Program.

Selected credits: Geronimo, Dance Me Outside, The Rez, Highlander: The Raven, Relic Hunter, Wonderfalls, 7 Times Lucky, Framed, Random Passage, The J.J. Harper Story, The Thin Blue Lie, Traders, Tipi Tales, Moccasin Flats as well as on stage in fareWel, Macbeth, The Fabric of the Sky and Richard III. He has acted as MC for many events across the country including the Aboriginal Youth Achievement Awards as well as speaking to legislators regarding Aboriginal Leadership, working extensively in audio, voicing for commercials, public service announcements, radio dramas, and more.

HOMEWORK CLUB 

The Wii Chiiwaakanak Learning Centre, in partnership with the Spence Neighbourhood Association and the "Lets Talk Science" program, offers homework help for children and youth. Volunteers are from the Faculty of Science and are here at the Centre to work with local children and youth.

Through the Homework Club it is our hope that positive relationships and role modeling will be developed.
