The University of Winnipeg Men’s Volleyball program and Head Coach Larry McKay are pleased to announce the commitment from Matt Schriemer to play for the Wesmen beginning this September.

Schriemer, a 6’7” right side and student with an “A” average from Miles MacDonnell Collegiate, comes to the Wesmen with an impressive resume.

Schriemer was a valuable member of the 2008 Provincial AAAA Championship winning team with the Buckeyes where he was named to the Championship All-Star Team and was honored with the Players Choice Award. He was named a Manitoba Volleyball Association Graduating All-Star and selected to the All-Manitoba Team (2008). Matt was named an all-star at the 18U National Championship last May as a member of the Winnipeg Strike Club Team. He was also named a tournament all-star at last years Wesmen Invitational Varsity Boys Tournament. This past summer Matt was a member of Team Manitoba that won a bronze medal at the National Team Challenge Cup in Longueuil, Quebec.

“Matt Schriemer has improved over the past two years to be a top right side player. He has good size, is left handed and has tremendous enthusiasm for volleyball”, stated Wesmen Head Coach Larry McKay.

The commitment of Matt Schriemer to the University of Winnipeg Men’s Volleyball Program is the second addition in the past two weeks. Matt joins Devin Schmidt, a 6’6” middle from Sturgeon Heights, another top Manitoba player to join the Wesmen.
