The University of Winnipeg in conjunction with Team Canada Volleyball is pleased to announce that men's volleyball players Justin Duff, Dan Lother and Andrew Town have been invited to the 2010 Senior Men's Selection Camp to be held in Gatineau, Quebec from May 9-14, 2010.
The purpose of the Senior Men’s National Team Program is to identify, select and train a group of athletes who have potential, and demonstrated international skill and experience to represent Canada at the elite level. Last year's goal for the Senior Men’s team was qualification for the 2010 FIVB World Championship, which was achieved by a great win in Mexico this past August. This year's goal is to finish top 10 at the 2010 World Championship in Italy.
The intention is to select up to 16 athletes to train in the Team Canada Volleyball Centre over the summer, comprised of a combination of young veterans and new athletes possessing potential to lead Canada in the 2010 World Championships and a berth to the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England, as well as longer term success for 2013-2016 quadrennial.
"Our university and our program are proud to add these three to the large number of local players in our past who have reached their same level. Our program continues to give local players the opportunity to be a National Team level player", added Wesmen Head Coach Larry McKay.
