Matt Schriemer Named to CIS All-Rookie Team

Matt Schriemer Completed A Successful Rookie Season By Being Named to the CIS MVB All-Rookie Team..


The University of Winnipeg Wesmen along with the Canadian Interuniversity Sport Association (CIS) is pleased to announce that first year player Matt Schriemer has been named to the CIS All-Rookie Team. The announcement was made at the CIS Men’s Volleyball Championship banquet held this evening in Kamloops, British Columbia

Matt Schriemer, 6’7” right side was a valuable addition to Head Coach Larry McKay’s team this past season. In his first year with the Wesmen, Schriemer finished second on the team in blocks (41), third in kills (170) and third in points (201.5). He was a starter for all 18 regular and three post season matches and was named the University of Winnipeg Male Player of the Week once during the 2009-2010 season. Before joining the Wesmen Schriemer was a valuable member of the 2008 Provincial AAAA Championship winning team with the Buckeyes where he was named to the Championship All-Star Team and was honoured with the Players Choice Award. He was named a Manitoba Volleyball Association Graduating All-Star and selected to the All-Manitoba Team in 2008.
