The University of Winnipeg Wesmen and Women’s Wrestling head coach Adrian Bruce are pleased to announce the commitments of Rachel Alder and Tia MacDonald to the Women’s Wrestling Program for the start of the 2013-2014 Canada West season.
 

Rachel Alder - Winnipeg, Mb.

Age:  18
High School: Springs Christian Academy
Club:  Jr. Wesmen
Height:  5’
Weight:  51kgs.
Program:  Faculty of Science

• 2X Manitoba Provincial Champion
• 2011 Canadian National Championships Silver Medalist
• 2nd place 2011 Canadian Cadet FILA Trials
• 2011 Western Canada Summer Games Champion
• 2013 Canada Games Trials Champion -Team Manitoba
• 5 yr. Honor Roll student

“The recruitment of Rachel into our Women’s program is one of great significance, she will be the first ever graduate of our Jr. Wesmen program to progress into our Wesmen Varsity program.  She is a very strong academic athlete who fits the model of our program very well, I am very excited to see her develop at this level”, added Wesmen Wrestling head coach Adrian Bruce.

• 2 X Honor Roll Student - Cameron Heights Collegiate

“The addition of Miss MacDonald to our Women’s program I expect will have a significant positive impact, another very strong academic athlete to add to our roster. Being recruited out of one of the top developmental programs in the country she comes to us with strong technical skills and significant competitive experience which will serve as a strong foundation as she enters the sport of wrestling at the CIS level”, added  Bruce.
