Black Named To Canada West All-Star Team

Third Year Men's Volleyball Middle Blocker Brendan Black Was Named Today To The Canada West Men's Volleyball Second All-Star Team..


The University of Winnipeg Wesmen and the Canada West Universities Athletic Association are pleased to announce that Men's Volleyball player Brendan Black has been selected as a second team Canada West Men's Volleyball All-Star.

Black a 20 year old third year middle blocker finished the 2012-2013 season with 95 blocks (6th in Canada West) and a hitting percentage of .372 (8th in the conference). He finished first on the team in total blocks (95) and third in kills (152). Black had a season high 11 total blocks at UBC (January 11, 2013) and a season high 13 kills against the Calgary Dinos on November 11, 2012.

"Brendan has put in much work in the last 12 months towards improving himself. The performance of our team this season along with his own individual performance showed Brendan's work. To be selected as one of Canada West's top players in his 3rd year gives Brendan more incentive to continue with his work. That individual incentive is powerful when combined with what everyone cares most for which is to improve on the team's success this past season", added Wesmen Men's Volleyball head coach Larry McKay.
