WESMEN 64 Saskatchewan 63
The University of Winnipeg Wesmen mounted a fourth quarter comeback to defeat the University of Saskatchewan Huskies 64-63 Saturday night in Saskatoon.
Game Statistics
Down by nine to start the final 10 minutes, Winnipeg poured the ball into the net starting the quarter on a 13-0 run to take the lead. The Wesmen added another five points before the end of the game and held the Huskies to just eight in the quarter to take the win.
The Huskies had controlled the first half of the game leading 22-12 after the first quarter and 38-30 at halftime.
Winnipeg improves to 6-13 with the win, while the Huskies drop to 11-7.
It was the second close game in a row between the two teams, a night earlier the Huskies won 82-80.
Yael Kaplan led the Wesmen scoring 14 points in the win, while Lauren Anderson added another 13 points and 10 rebounds. Anderson and Kaplan each scored five a piece in the fourth quarter comeback.
Second-year post Dalyce Emmerson led the Huskies with 16 points, while Kiera Lyons scored 15. Kelsey Trulsrud finished with a double-double scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Saskatchewan finished the night shooting 41% and shot just 32% in the second half. The Wesmen shot at 35% in the game.
Winnipeg will wrap up their regular season home schedule next Friday and Saturday against the Alberta Pandas. Tip off on both nights is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

WESMEN 65 Saskatchewan 89
The University of Saskatchewan Huskies picked up an 89-65 victory over the visiting University of Winnipeg Wesmen Saturday night in Saskatoon.
Game Statistics
With the win, Saskatchewan improves to 13-5 on the season, while Winnipeg drops to 11-8 in the tight Prairie Division standings.
Second year forward Matthew Forbes led the Huskies with a game high 30 points. He also added 10 rebounds in the game. Patrick Burns and Stephon Lamar were also strong for the Huskies in the win. Burns tallied a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Lamar scored another 14 points.
Jordan Clennon was the best on the night for the Wesmen tallying a team-high 17 points. Benny Iko added another 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Although Winnipeg jumped out the lead for the majority of the first quarter, Saskatchewan took control by the end of the first leading 20-16. Winnipeg pulled within eight at halftime at 44-36, but the Huskies sealed the win in the third quarter outscoring the Wesmen 28-15. Saskatchewan continued the roll in the fourth outscoring 17-14.
The Huskies finished the night shooting at 49%, while the Wesmen shot at 43%.
Saskatchewan also beat the Wesmen on the boards out-rebounding Winnipeg 49-31.
Winnipeg will close out their regular season home schedules next Friday and Saturday against the Alberta Golden Bears. Game time is 8:00 p.m.

WESMEN 80 Saskatchewan 82
Saskatchewan rookie Desarae Hogberg scored the winning basket with 0.01 seconds left on the clock to give the Huskies a dramatic 82-80 win over the visiting University of Winnipeg Wesmen Friday night in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Sitting under the basket, the rookie Hogberg was able to take a dish from Riley Humbert who drove down the key from the arch after the inbound. Her easy layup slipped into the net just before the buzzer.
With the win Saskatchewan, improves to 11-6, while Winnipeg sees their record fall to 5-13.
Saskatchewan opened with a 12-0 run in the first quarter. But Winnipeg quickly found their stride in the frame with Megan Noonan hitting eight points to pull within one at 17-16 by the end of the quarter. The Huskies’ early lead helped keep them ahead 39-35 at halftime.
A Tia Coulter jumper gave Winnipeg the lead for the first time in the game at 3:32 in the third. The Wesmen capitalized on Huskie errors to spark the comeback, scoring 23 points on Saskatchewan turnovers in the game.
The lead switched hands nine times in the final two quarters before Hogberg won the game for Saskatchewan. Winnipeg outscored the Huskies 20-18 in the third, while each team scored 25 a piece in the fourth.
Four Huskies finished in double-digits on the night. Dalyce Emmerson led the way for Saskatchewan with 19 points and 15 rebounds, followed by Hogberg with 14. Kiera Lyons scored another 13 and Kelsey Trulsrud added 12.
Megan Noonan finished with 16 points to lead the Wesmen, followed by Stephanie Kleysen with 15. Coulter and Yael Kaplan each scored 11, while Lauren Anderson added another 10. Coulter was the best for the Wesmen on the boards nabbing seven rebounds.
The Huskies finished the night shooting 53%, while Winnipeg shot at 39%.
The two teams will meet again Saturday night in Saskatoon. Game time is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.

The University of Saskatchewan Huskies picked up a 95-74 victory over the Winnipeg Wesmen Saturday night in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

With the win, Saskatchewan improves to 12-5 on the season, while Winnipeg drops to 11-7.
Entering the weekend, just four points separated first from fourth in the Canada West Prairie Division.
Matthew Forbes, a second-year forward, led the Huskies with a game high 40 points. Ben Baker recorded a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds.
Mark McNee was the best on the night for the Wesmen tallying a team-high 19 points and five rebounds. Steven Wesley added another 14 points.
Saskatchewan took control of the game from the first few minutes outscoring the Wesmen 27-20 in the first quarter. Although Winnipeg pulled within seven at halftime at 47-40, the Huskies sealed the win in the third quarter. Saskatchewan outscored the Wesmen 29-14 in the frame. Winnipeg outscored the Huskies 20-19 in the fourth.
The Huskies finished the night shooting at 63%, while the Wesmen shot at 40%. Winnipeg did capitalize on Huskie errors scoring 22 points on Saskatchewan turnovers.
The two teams will battle again Saturday night to wrap up the series. Tip off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
