WESMEN 74 Lakehead 85
The Winnipeg Wesmen opened up a two-game non-conference series against the Lakehead University Thunderwolves with a 85-74 loss Thursday night in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Jordan Clennon was the top scorer for Winnipeg finishing with 19 points. Travis Krahn added 15 and Nolan Gooding, playing in his first game in a year and a half added 12 points in 20 minutes of playing time. Mark McNee led the team in rebounds with seven and guard Andrew Cunningham dished out six assists.
Lakehead went into the halftime break leading 42-36.
Winnipeg and Lakehead will continue their series Friday night. Tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (Winnipeg Time)

WESMEN 80 Lakehead 90
It was a great effort that fell just short. The Winnipeg Wesmen played a solid game in a close 90-80 loss to the Lakehead University Thunderwolves Friday evening in Thunder, Bay, Ontario.
Jordan Clennon led the Wesmen in scoring for the second consecutive night, scoring a game high 20 points. Benny Iko added 16 points and grabbed five rebounds. Sam Hattin finished with 13 and Nolan Gooding and Andrew Cunningham each scored 10. Cunningham dished out eight assists.
Lakehead was led by the duo of Ben Johnson and Matt Schmidt each scoring 16 points.
The Thunderwolves led 21-16 after the opening ten minutes and outscored the Wesmen 22-15 in the second frame to head into the halftime break leading 43-31.
In the third quarter both teams managed to put 25 points on the board as the Thunderwolves continued to hold the lead by a score of 68-56 after thirty minutes of play. The Wesmen outscored the home team in the fourth quarter by a margin of 24-22 as Lakehead hung on for the 90-80 victory.
Both teams had success from three-point territory. Lakehead finished the game 15-of-23 (65%) while Winnipeg was 11-of-27 (41%).
