The No. 3 ranked UBC Thunderbirds scored three goals in the second half to propel them to a 5-1 victory over the Winnipeg Wesmen Sunday afternoon in Winnipeg.
The victory improves UBC's record to 6-0-0. Winnipeg falls to 0-7-1.

Gagandeep Dosanjh scored two goals for the T-Birds. Daniel Gazzola, Greg Smith and Reynold Stewart added singles. Richie Rundle scored the lone Wesmen goal

Winnipeg opened the scoring in the 19th minute with Richie Rundle taking a perfect pass from Oleg Andruschchyshyn and beating T-Bird goalkeeper Luke O'Shea to give the Wesmen a 1-0 lead.

Daniel Gazzola tied the match with his first goal of the season, making a great move on Wesmen goalkeeper Tyson Farago and tucking the ball just inside the post.

UBC grabbed the lead in the 31st minute. Greg Smith scored his second of the season on a perfect set up from Navid Mashinchi to make the score 2-1 heading into the halftime break.

In the second half the T-Birds got some breathing room in the 53rd minute as Dosanjh scored his first goal of the match and followed that up in the 80th minute with his second of the match to extend the UBC lead to 4-1. The two goals by Dosanjh gives him six goals on the season. Reynold Stewart closed out the scoring in the 89th minute to make the final score 5-1.

UBC outshot Winnipeg 22-9 in the contest. Wesmen goalkeeper Tyson Farago made eight saves, Luke O'Shea made two saves for UBC.

UBC will be at home next week to face UNBC on Friday and Saturday. Winnipeg will travel to Lethbridge to take on the Pronghorns on Saturday and Sunday.

Wesmen midfielder Krzysztof Szulc scored a goal in extra time of the second half to give Winnipeg a 2-2 tie against the #7 ranked Trinity Western University Spartans Saturday afternoon at Memorial Park in Winnipeg.

Szulc took a perfect pass from Oleg Andrushchyshyn and beat Spartan goalie Evan Lowther with a low shot inside the left post.

Winnipeg's record sits at 0-6-1, the Spartans see their record go to 5-0-2.

Wesmen captain Adam Bromley scored the other goal for Winnipeg (31st minute). Jarvis Ambaka (17th minute) and Spencer Schmidt (19th minute) scored for Trinity Western.

The Spartans opened the scoring in the 17th minute, Jarvis Ambaka scored his fourth goal of the season taking a pass in the slot from Spencer Schmidt and beating Wesmen goalkeeper Tyson Farago. The same two players extended the Spartans lead to 2-0, this time Schmidt scored his second marker of the season on a pass from Ambaka.

The Wesmen got some much needed momentum from their captain. Adam Bromley scored his first goal of the season on a perfect free kick in the 31st minute to cut the Spartan lead to 2-1 heading into halftime.

The score remained 2-1 throughout the opening 45 minutes, until Szulc's heroics in extra time made the final score 2-2.

Trinity Western had 23 total shots. Winnipeg had seven. Wesmen goalkeeper Tyson Farago made seven saves while Evan Lowther made five.

Winnipeg will close out their weekend schedule hosting the UBC Thunderbirds at 12:00 p.m. at the U of Manitoba Soccer Field. Trinity Western will travel to Calgary to face Mount Royal.

Women's Soccer at Victoria   Match Statistics

The University of Winnipeg Wesmen started a two match road trip in British Columbia with a 11-0 loss to the University of Victoria Vikes Friday night in Victoria.

With the victory, Victoria remains undefeated sporting a record of 5-0-1. Winnipeg falls to 0-6-1.

The Wesmen, battled back from an 8-0 first-half defecit to hold off the Vikes 3-0 in the final 45 minutes of play. Rookie keeper Kim Gudmandson landed hard after a dive in the first half and had to be replaced by second year defender Janelle Comte for the remainder of the game.

Following the Vikes' third goal in the 16th minute, Winnipeg striker Chelsea Kwasnicki gained an opportunity off of a Victoria turnover.Kwasnicki's shot was wide and well-watched by Vikes keeper Stephanie Walker.

The Wesmen had their best chance in the 44th minute, when Kwasnicki did well against two Vikes defenders and had a clean shot on goal that seemed to beat Parker. But the Vikes defender was in good position to clear the ball of the goal line.

Winnipeg will head to Abbotsford to take on the Fraser Valley Cascades Saturday night. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (Winnipeg Time). The game will be broadcast live on Canada West TV.
