First year midfielder Kaylan Strang (Winnipeg, MB) scored the only goal of the match in the 54th minute of play.
Both teams were cautious in the match with limited scoring chances for what turned out to be a defensive battle as the two squads tried desperately to tilt field position into their favor.
Winnipeg had some quality scoring chances in the first half registering four quality shots on net but were unable to score on Bison goalkeeper Chloe Werle (Winnipeg, MB). Winnipeg Forward Chelsea Kwasnicki had two of those scoring chances.

In the second half, the scoring came fast and furious. Second year striker Brett Levis (Saskatoon, SK) opened the scoring in the 64th minute on a bullet shot that just was out of the reach of Wesmen goalkeeper Tyson Farago.
Winnipeg made a substitution soon after and it paid off. Yiannis Tsalatsidis (Winnipeg, MB) came off the bench and tied the game at 1-1 with a goal in the 72nd minute.
The huskies replied soon after in the 82nd minute as Brett Levis scored his second goal of the match to give the Huskies a 2-1 lead.
