The University of Winnipeg Wesmen and Womens Volleyball head coach Diane Scott are pleased to announce that Sarah Lynch (Kitchener, Ontario) has committed to joining the womens volleyball program for the start of the 2012-2013 Canada West season in September.
Lynch, a 62 outside hitter and middle blocker is currently a member of the Ontario Provincial 19U team. A graduate from Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate, she was named to the Waterloo Region High School All Star Team in 2011. She was the recipient of the Award of Excellence following the 2008-2009 season as a member of the U16 Kitchener-Waterloo Predators club team. The award was recognized by the Ontario Volleyball Association. We are very excited that Sarah has chosen the University of Winnipeg for her academic and athletic experience. As an all-round competitive athlete with strong academic and personal goals, she is a great fit for our program at the right time, said Wesmen head coach Diane Scott.
A multi-sport talent, she competed in mountain biking, road cycling and soccer. Lynch was an honour roll student in high school and will be striving for a degree in Pre-Veterinary Sciences.
"U of W is getting a very versatile young lady that has the ability to play numerous positions. Her size allows her to play the middle, but her ball handling allows her to play the outside positions too. With Diane's coaching and her desire to become a great player the future for Sarah is very bright, added Paul Pavan, Head coach Kitchener-Waterloo Predators Club Team.
