The Wesmen Will Open The 2012-2013 Volleyball Regular Season Schedule Against Manitoba On October 25. The 2012-2013 Schedule Was Released Today..
The 2012-2013 Canada West volleyball schedules takes on a new look. This years schedule will see all 12 teams playing a 22 match schedule which will allow all teams to play each weekend now that Mount Royal has been added.
The Winnipeg Wesmen will have the honour of playing the first match of the 2012-2013 Canada West regular season on Thursday, October 25th against their cross-town rivals the Manitoba Bisons at the Duckworth Centre.
The following weekend (November 2-3) Winnipeg will play host to the newest member of the Canada West Volleyball Conference, the Mount Royal Cougars. Winnipeg will be on the road for the first time in the regular season on (November 10-11) with a pair of afternoon matches in Calgary against the Dinos. The teams will continue their road schedule the following weekend (November 16-17) with a stop in Regina to face the Cougars. Winnipeg returns home to face the Trinity Western University Spartans (November 23-24).
The Wesmen will wrap up their first half schedules with three matches against their provincial rivals beginning with a home and home series against Brandon (November 29 in Brandon and December 1 in Winnipeg). Winnipeg will face Manitoba in the volleyball portion of the 22nd Annual Duckworth Challenge on Tuesday, December 4th at the U of M.
After the holiday break Winnipeg will head to the west coast (January 11-12) to face the UBC Thunderbirds in Vancouver. The second half home schedule begins with a visit by the Saskatchewan Huskies (January 18-19). Winnipeg will head to Edmonton the following weekend (January 25-26) to face the Alberta Pandas/Golden Bears before returning to the Duckworth Centre (February 1-2) to face the UBC Okanagan Heat.
The Wesmen will conclude their 2012-2013 regular season (February 8-9) on the road in Kamloops, British Columbia against the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack.
