To kickoff five straight days of 2012-13 schedule and championship announcements, Canada West Universities Athletic Association (CWUAA) releases the full list of dates and times for the newly expanded, 16-team men’s and women’s basketball conference.
For the Winnipeg Wesmen the regular season schedule will begin on Friday, November 2nd in Lethbridge against the Pronghorns. Winnipeg will open their regular season home schedule on Thursday, November 8th hosting the University of Regina Cougars at 6:00 p.m. (women) and 8:00 p.m.(men). A home and home series against the Brandon Bobcats will take place on Thursday, November 15 (In Winnipeg) and wrap up on Saturday, November 17th in Brandon.
The Wesmen will hit the road for a swing trip in British Columbia on November 23 against Trinity Western followed by a date against Fraser Valley the next evening.
Winnipeg will conclude the first half schedule with three consecutive home dates in a five day span starting with Thompson Rivers (Saturday, Dec 1) and the following night against the UBC Okanagan Heat. The basketball portion of the 22nd Annual Duckworth Challenge against the Manitoba Bisons will take place on Wednesday, December 5.
The second half schedule resumes on home court the weekend of January 11-12 with visits by the Victoria Vikes on Friday followed by the UBC Thunderbirds on Saturday. The Wesmen will face the two newest Canada West members on the road (January 17 against The UNBC Thunderwolves and January 19 facing the Mount Royal Cougars). The month of January concludes with two games against the Calgary Dinos at the Duckworth Centre.
The Wesmen will kick off February on the road in Saskatoon against the Saskatchewan Huskies (Feb 1-2) before closing out their home regular season schedule against Alberta (February 8-9). The Wesmen will conclude their regular season schedules against their cross town rivals, Manitoba Bisons on Wed, Feb 13.
