Athletic Therapist And Faculty Member Ben Trunzo Has Been Awarded The Chuck Babcock Special Recognition Award By The Manitoba Athletic Therapists Association..




The University of Winnipeg Wesmen in conjunction with the Manitoba Athletic Therapists Association are pleased to announce that Ben Trunzo has been awarded the Chuck Babcock Special Recognition Award. The presentation was made at the MATA Annual General Meeting this past Wednesday night.

The award recognizes Trunzo's outstanding contribution to the field of Athletic Therapy in Manitoba. It was awarded to him based on his hard work and dedication that he has given to the profession as a mentor, teacher, colleague and advocate. Trunzo was nominated for the award by MATA member Dr. Jason Peeler.

Trunzo has an extensive background in both clinical and on-site Athletic Therapy skills in prevention, management, rehabilitation and reconditioning of injuries, having provided service at the university, professional and international levels. His accomplishments include medical team responsibilities at the 1987, 1989, 1991 and 1998 Canada games. As well, he has been a medical team member at the 1991, 1993, and 1995 World University Games. Ben has had the fortunate opportunities to be part of the Canadian Medical Team at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg.
