"A product of one of the top developmental programs in the country, Kyle is the complete package. He is a young man that is mature beyond his years and someone that I believe will have a tremendous positive impact on our program for many years to come. As impressive as his academic & athletic achievements are, it was his strengths & qualities as a person which I was drawn to and may well prove to be his greatest assets as he graduates into our program”, said Wesmen head coach Adrian Bruce.

A three year team captain at John Oliver Secondary School (Vancouver, British Columbia), he led his team to a third place finish at the 2012 Provincial Championships. In his years as captain his team won 10 Provincial and 11 National medals. Nguyen was named both the schools Athlete and Wrestler of the Year on three occasions. He was recently honoured by BC Wrestling receiving both the Andy Laliberte Award for character and the Kjeld Brodsgaard Award for sportsmanship.

Kyle is a consistent honour roll student graduating with a 90+ average. Off the mat he helps out in the community working with inner-city children and youth in after school and summer programs in the Vancouver area.
