Chelsea Jones Joining Women's Volleyball Program
Women's Volleyball Head Coach Diane Scott Announced Today The Commitment Of Chelsea Jones From St.Mary's Academy To The UW Women's Volleyball Program..
The University of Winnipeg and Women’s Volleyball head coach Diane Scott are pleased to announce the commitment of Chelsea Jones (St.Mary’s Academy) to the Women’s Volleyball Program for the start of the 2012-2013 Canada West season in September.
Jones, a 5’11 middle blocker played a vital role in helping the St. Mary’s Academy Flames capture the 2011 Provincial High School Volleyball Championship last November. At the conclusion of the season, Jones was named to the Manitoba Volleyball Association’s Graduating All-Star Team and was also ranked no.6 in the annual coach’s poll of the top high school volleyball players in Manitoba. Chelsea was a member of Team Manitoba at the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games and plans to participate in the Provincial Team Program coordinated thru the Manitoba Volleyball Association."We are extremely delighted to have Chelsea join our Women's Volleyball Program. She is definitely one of the top recruits from this high school season with enormous potential. A dynamic athlete capable of playing multiple positions Chelsea is going to have the opportunity to transition into a university player right away. We feel Chelsea is just starting to understand her ability, we are very excited to experience her growth and development as a Wesmen”, said Wesmen head coach Diane Scott.
An accomplished club player, Jones will participate as a member of the Cobra’s U18 team in the National Club Championships being held in Toronto, Ontario. Last season the team coached by Phil Hudson finished in the Top eight at Nationals.
A multi-sport talent, Jones has participated in numerous city, provincial and national soccer championships.
