A familiar name is re-surfacing at the University of Winnipeg. Women’s Volleyball head coach Diane Scott is pleased to announce the commitment of Hope Schneider to the Women’s Volleyball program for the start of the 2012-2013 season this September.

Schneider, 5’8” setter from Crocus Plains High School (Brandon, Manitoba) played three years for the Plainsmen (2009-2011) and was instrumental in helping the team win a silver medal at the 2011 Provincial High School Championships.

She was the starting setter and team captain for the U16 Provincial Team (2009-2010) that included a gold medal win in 2010. Hope was named the U16 Player of the Year by the Manitoba Volleyball Association back in 2010 and last season was awarded the Coaches Award at Crocus Plains.

"We are so excited to add an athlete like Hope to our program. She brings to our environment an intense athletic background with an appetite to succeed and is willing to do whatever it takes to contribute and grow. She will fit in nicely with our competitive group”, said Wesmen head coach Diane Scott.

An accomplished student, Schneider currently has an 89% average in grade 12.

Athletics run deep in the Schneider family. Hope is the younger sister of former Wesmen great Dustin Schneider. Dustin played for the Wesmen Men’s Volleyball team from 2004-2009. Her other older brother Mark was a defensemen in the Western Hockey Hockey League for three seasons before suiting up for the University of Regina Cougars last season.
