Sears, McNee Named Athletes Of The Month

Women's Volleyball Player Lauren Sears And Men's Basketball Player Mark McNee Have Been Chosen As The Lea Marc Printing Wesmen Athletes Of The Month..

The University of Winnipeg Wesmen in conjunction with lea marc Printing Solutions are pleased to announce that Women’s Volleyball player Lauren Sears and Men’s Basketball player Mark McNee have been chosen as the lea marc Printing Solutions Wesmen Athletes of the Month for January 2012.

 Lauren Sears, Women’s Volleyball

·    87 kills (seven matches)
·    27 blocks
·    15 defensive digs
·    10 service aces


Sears, fifth year middle had a record breaking month. In the match against Trinity Western (January 21) Sears broke the Canada West Women’s Volleyball single season record for service aces (38 and counting). After her 36 kills, 13 blocks and six service aces in a weekend series against Saskatchewan, Sears was named the Canada West Female Athlete of the Week. 


 Mark McNee Men’s Basketball

·    135 points (eight games - 16.8 ppg)
·    53 rebounds
·    Nine steals, Six blocks
·    Averaged 30 minutes per game


McNee, third year forward led the team in scoring in five games played during the month. The highlight of the month was his 31 point, 12 rebound performance in a dramatic 75-71 victory over the University of Victoria Vikes (January 20). McNee currently leads the team in scoring averaging 12.8 points per game and is second in rebounds with 5.4 boards per game.
