It is the holiday break in the Canada West Conference regular season schedule, but that did not stop the Wesmen from hitting the court. The Wesmen fell short in a 68-59 non-conference loss to the Dickinson State University Blue Hawks Thursday evening in Dickinson, North Dakota.
Second year guard Yael Kaplan led the Wesmen with 24 points, including a pair of three-pointers and was 8-of-10 from the free throw line. Fifth year guard Mackenzie Prasek was next with 10. First year players Tia Coulter and Alex Warburton led the team with six rebounds each.
The Wesmen will resume their regular season schedule on January 6-7 on the road against Thompson Rivers and UBC Okanagan.

WESMEN 63 Dickinson State 80
The Men's Basketball team got one last chance to hit the court in game action before the Wesmen Classic. The Wesmen were defeated 80-63 by the Dickinson State University Blue Hawks in non-conference action Thursday night in Dickinson, North Dakota.Second year guard Travis Krahn led the Wesmen with 15 points. Krahn was 5-of-10 from three point territory. Dominique Brown was next with 12 points. Mark McNee led the team in rebounds with seven.
Winnipeg will now prepare for the university section of the 45th Annual Wesmen Classic that takes place at the Duckworth Centre from December 28-30. The Wesmen will face Keyano College in their opening game.
