Men's Wrestling Announce First Recruits
Head Coach Adrian Bruce Announced Today That Gordon McNabb And Eric Skeavington Are The First Recruits To The Men's Wrestling Program..
University of Winnipeg Wesmen Wrestling head coach Adrian Bruce is pleased to announce the first recruits to the University of Winnipeg’s Men’s Wrestling Program. Bruce announced today the formal commitments of Gordon McNabb and Eric Skeavington.
Gordon McNabb from Glenlawn Collegiate (Winnipeg, Manitoba) comes to the Wesmen with nine years experience as a member of the Niverville Wranglers and T4 Wrestling Clubs. McNabb joins the Wesmen with an impressive resume. He was a five-time Manitoba Provincial Champion, won a silver medal at the 2010 Canadian Juvenile Nationals (Greco). He was named on two occasions as the Manitoba Amateur Wrestling Associations Outstanding Male Wrestler. In 2010 he was the winner of the University of Alberta Golden Bears Invitational, University of Saskatchewan Huskies Open and the Bedford Road Classic in Saskatoon.
“Gordon is definitely one of our top recruits. He is a very talented young man with a tremendous amount of potential, I expect him to step directly into the CIS and be a strong presence in the Canada West conference, said head coach Adrian Bruce.
Eric Skeavington from Hapnot Collegiate (Flin Flon, Manitoba) joins the Wesmen with 12 years experience at the high school level and as a member of the Jr. Huskies Club team in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He placed in the top five at the FILA trials (2007) and was the Wetaskawin Open Champion that same year.A true leader, Skeavington was the head coach of the Hapnot Collegiate Wrestling Team (2008-2011) and served as an Assistant Head Coach of the Manitoba Provincial Team (2010-2011)
“We are very pleased to welcome Eric to the Wesmen team, he will add some well established technical skills to our men’s program. He has the ability to step into a leadership role within our program and will prove to be a valuable asset for years to come, added Bruce.
Note: This Friday and Saturday will mark a historic event as the University of Winnipeg’s Wrestling Programs will participate in their first ever meet at the University of Calgary Dinos Invitational.
