Team Black Wins Inaugural Wesmen World Series

- Winnipeg Wesmen Team Black pounded Winnipeg Wesmen Team Red on Monday 9-2 at Koskie Field in seven innings to win the inaugural Wesmen World Series 4-3 in the best of seven series.

Winnipeg Wesmen Team Black scored three runs in the fifth on an RBI triple by Justin Voth, a passed ball, and an RBI double by Josh Robinson.

Josh Loewen handled Winnipeg Wesmen Team Red's lineup with ease, racking up eight strikeouts. Winnipeg Wesmen Team Black's pitcher allowed two earned runs on five hits and no walks over seven innings.

Wes Pomeranski, Josh Malcomson, Robinson, Voth, Mitchell, and Paul Esteves each got hits for Winnipeg Wesmen Team Black.

Wes Pomeranski made three outstanding plays in the field, robbing Team Red of three singles. He busted his belt in the cause.

The bottom of the first saw Winnipeg Wesmen Team Black take an early lead, 2-0. Winnipeg Wesmen Team Black got things going when Malcomson singled. Then scored Pomeranski. The scoreboard lit up again for Winnipeg Wesmen Team Black when Malcomson scored on a passed ball.

Winnipeg Wesmen Team Black stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the fourth, scoring two runs on an RBI single by Mike Buffie.
