The Wesmen Soccer Teams Both Won The Gold Medal For The Second Consecutive Season. The Women's Team Beat Providence 6-0 And The Men's Team Beat Red River 3-1..

Women's Championship

Champions Again..The Winnipeg Wesmen successfully defended their MCAC Women's Soccer Championship with a 6-0 victory over Providence College in the gold medal match Sunday afternoon at Red River College.

The Wesmen defeated Providence College in last year's Championship Final last October.

Kayla White, Kayla Jacobsen and Chelsea Kwasnicki each scored two goals for the Wesmen.

The Wesmen scored five goals in the opening half and added one more in the second frame.

Serafina Trunzo was named the Winnipeg Wesmen Player of the Game. Regular season MVP Sheri Hince was also named the Tournament MVP.

It was not easy but the Winnipeg Wesmen won their second consecutive MCAC Men's Soccer Championship with a thrilling 3-1 victory over the Red River College Rebels Sunday afternoon at Red River
College.

All-Conference All-Star Kenny Sacramento scored the only goal of the first half on a penalty kick to give Winnipeg a 1-0 lead at halftime.

The Rebels scored on a break away at the midway point of the second half to even the score at 1-1. The Wesmen responded late in the second half on a goal by Yiannis Tsalatsidis with ten minutes left to give Winnipeg a 2-1 lead. Jesse Denton scored a late insurance goal for the Wesmen to make the final score 3-1.

Yiannis Tsalatsidis was named the Winnipeg Wesmen Player of the Game. Kenny Sacramento was named the Tournament MVP.

Semi Finals - Saturday, October 22

Women's Soccer vs Red River
WESMEN 9  Red River 0

The Women's Soccer team defeated the host Red River College Rebels 9-0 in the semi-finals of the MCAC Women's Soccer Championships Saturday afternoon at Red River College.

The Wesmen will take on #2 seed Providence College in the Championship Final Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. Providence beat #3 seed Canadian Mennonite University 6-0 in the other semi final.

Kayla White and Kayla Jacobsen scored two goals each. Danielle Bulloch, Janelle Comte, Sheri Hince, Chelsea Kwasnicki and Stephanee Ophey added singles.

The match up will be a rematch of last seasons championship final. The Wesmen beat Providence 10-0 last October.


Men's Soccer vs St. Boniface

Kenny Sacramento scored three goals to lead the Winnipeg Wesmen to a 6-1 victory over St. Boniface College in the semi final at the MCAC Men's Soccer Championships at Red River College Saturday afternoon.

The Wesmen seeded number one will take on the #3 seed and host Red River College Rebels in the Championship Final Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Red River beat Providence College 2-0 in the earlier semi final.

Adam Bromley, Richard Rundle and Amos Ganyea each scored one goal in the victory.
