Sunday, October 9

Regina 92   Winnipeg 59

The Regina Cougars finished the BOB FM Shootout with a perfect 3-0 record after posting a 92-59 victory over the Winnipeg Wesmen Sunday afternoon in Winnipeg.

Regina (3-0) beat Manitoba on Friday and followed that up with a victory the next day against Lakehead. Winnipeg finishes the three day tournament with a record of 2-1.

Michelle Clark led Regina with a game high 27 points, including 20 in the first half. Megan Chamberlin added 15. Brittany Read finished with 13 and Joanna Zalesiak added 10 points and five assists. Chamberlin also finished with eight rebounds. Zalesiak was named the Tournament MVP. Clark and Chamberlin were selected as Tournament All-Stars.

Second year guard Yael Kaplan led the Wesmen with 16 points, including two-three pointers. First year forward Tia Coulter added 13 points. Stephanie Kleysen led the Wesmen in rebounding with seven. Fifth year players Amy Ogidan and Mackenzie Prasek were selected to the Tournament All-Star Team.

The Cougars went into the halftime break with a 50-40 lead and continued their strong play outscoring the Wesmen 42-19 in the second half.


Manitoba 74   Lakehead 67

Fifth year forward Mubo Ilelaboye scored a game high 34 points to lead the Manitoba Bisons to a 74-67 victory over the Lakehead Thunderwolves at the BOB FM Shootout Sunday morning at the Duckworth Centre.

Ilelaboye finished the contest shooting 12-of-18 from the field, including a perfect six-for-six from three point territory. Ilelaboye led the Bisons with 12 rebounds and was named a Tournament All-Star for her efforts.

Lauren Mortier added 12 points for Manitoba.

Lindsay Dreury led the Thunderwolves with 14 points. Fragale added 12. Lacy McNulty and Katie Ulakovic each scored 10 points.

Manitoba led at the halftime break 34-30.

The Bisons finish the tournament with a record of 1-2. Lakehead heads home from the three day event with a record of 0-3.

Winnipeg 71  Manitoba 58

A scoring explosion in the fourth quarter lifted the Winnipeg Wesmen to a 71-58 victory over the Manitoba Bisons Saturday night at the BOB FM Shootout at the Duckworth Centre.

Winnipeg trailed 45-40 after three quarters but exploded for 31 fourth quarter points and limited the Bisons to only 13 points in the frame.

Third year forward Alyssa Grant led the Wesmen with a game high 22 points, including five-three pointers. Amy Ogidan added 14, Stephanie Kleysen finished with 11 points and shared the team lead in rebounds with nine. Mackenzie Prasek finished with 10 points.Danielle Baril also hauled in nine rebounds.

Mubo Ilelaboye led Manitoba with 16 points. Allison Balaski and Vanessa DeVries each finished with 11. Balaski led Manitoba in rebounds with seven.

After a slow start to the opening frame that saw Winnipeg hold the advantage by a slim 16-14 margin, the Bisons outscored Winnipeg 14-12 in the second quarter to tie the score at 28-28 heading into the halftime break.

Winnipeg (2-0) will close out the BOB FM Shootout Sunday afternoon against the Regina Cougars at 12:00 p.m. Manitoba (0-2) will face Lakehead in the early game at 10:00 a.m.


Regina 67 Lakehead 38

The Regina Cougars improved their record to 2-0 at the BOB FM Shootout with a 67-38 victory over the Lakehead Thunderwolves Saturday night at the Duckworth Centre in Winnipeg.

Regina built a comfortable lead of 36-19 at halftime and never looked back.

Joanna Zalesiak led Regina with a game high 14 points. Michelle Clark added 13 and Alyssia Kajati finished with 10. Brittany Read was a force finishing with 10 rebounds and three blocks.

Lacy McNulty was the top scorer for the Thunderwolves with nine points. Lindsay Druery hauled in seven rebounds.

Regina (2-0) will face Winnipeg (2-0) Sunday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. Manitoba (0-2) will face Lakehead (0-2) in the early game at 10:00 a.m.

Winnipeg 64  Lakehead 63



Fifth year guard Mackenzie Prasek drained a three pointer with seven seconds left in regulation time to help the Winnipeg Wesmen to a dramatic 64-63 victory over the Lakehead Thunderwolves in the opening game of the BOB FM Women's Basketball Shootout Friday night in Winnipeg.

Prasek finished the game with 13 points, including three-three pointers. Danielle Baril led the Wesmen in the scoring department with 14. Stephanie Kleysen finished with a double-double 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Carolyn Fragale led Lakehead with a game high 18 points, including five from three point territory. Lindsay Inkila added 15 and Lindsay Dreury finished with 10 points.

Winnipeg had control of the game in the early stages leading 20-9 after the opening quarter. Lakehead rebounded and outscored the Wesmen 23-13 in the second frame to cut the Wesmen lead to 33-32 at halftime.

The Thunderwolves carried their momentum into the third quarter and outscored the Wesmen 24-16 to open up a 56-49 lead after thirty minutes.

Winnipeg rebounded in the fourth quarter and was able to outscore the Thunderwolves 15-7 to make the final score 64-63.

Winnipeg will face their cross town rivals the Manitoba Bisons Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. Lakehead will face the Regina Cougars in the late game at 8:00 p.m.

Regina 76   Manitoba 49

The Regina Cougars had no problem in their opening game of the BOB FM Shootout defeating the Manitoba Bisons 76-49 at the Duckworth Centre in Winnipeg.

Four Regina players scored in double digits led by Megan Chamberlin with 19. Joanna Zalesiak added 17 points and seven assists. Michelle Clark had 15 and Alyssia Kajati had 1o points, to go along with a game high nine rebounds.

Allison Balaski led Manitoba with nine points followed by Maria Pawlyshyn with seven.

Regina led 37-23 at halftime and dominated the second half outscoring Manitoba 39-25.

Regina will face Lakehead in the late game Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. Manitoba will face Winnipeg in the early game at 6:00 p.m.
