Womens Basketball head coach Tanya McKay has added a veteran to her current roster. McKay is pleased to announce the commitment of Heather Hildebrandt to the University of Winnipeg Womens Basketball program for the upcoming Canada West season.Hildebrandt a 55 guard joins the Wesmen with four years playing experience at Providence College (2004 - 2007). She was named the Providence College Athlete of the Year (2004 and 2006) and was selected team MVP (2004, 2006, 2007). At the conference level, Hildebrandt was chosen the CPAC MVP in 2004 and 2005 and selected to the NCCAA 2nd All-American team in 2007.
A graduate from Garden Valley Collegiate (Winkler, MB), Hildebrandt was honoured as the schools Athlete of the Year for three straight years (2001-2003).
Hildebrandt spent one season as the Head Coach of the Red River College Womens Basketball team in 2010-2011 after serving as an assistant coach for the previous two seasons.
She has spent the past four years as the Program Coordinator at Basketball Manitoba. In September she will be pursuing a degree in Education.
Heather will be a great addition to our program. She is a fierce competitor. Her past experience as both a player and coach will be a tremendous asset to our team, added Wesmen head coach Tanya McKay.
