Wesmen Add College Volleyball Program
The University of Winnipeg Wesmen Announced Today The Addition Of College Volleyball To It's List Of Competitive Sports Programs..
The University of Winnipeg Wesmen is pleased to announce the addition of College volleyball to its list of competitive sports programs. The men’s and women’s College Wesmen Volleyball teams will begin play in the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conferences (MCAC) this October.
The addition of Men’s and Women’s Volleyball now brings the total number of College Wesmen teams to six. College Soccer and Basketball were added to the list of competitive sports programs last season.
“I am excited that we are taking one more step to get to our goal of a complete opportunity for student athletes at the University of Winnipeg. This is a volleyball rich province and we look forward to these programs and enhancing what we do”, said University of Winnipeg Athletic Director Doran Reid.
Tryouts will take place in September for both volleyball teams.
Lodewyks, Thordarson Named Head Coaches
The University of Winnipeg Wesmen is also pleased to announce that Josh Thordarson and
Mike Lodewyks have been named head coaches of the College Wesmen men’s and women’s volleyball teams respectively.

· 19U Provincial Team Head Coach (2011)
· 16U/17U Men’s Provincial Team Head Coach (2008-2010)
· Dakota Collegiate Varsity Boys Assistant Coach (2005-2011)
Mike Lodewyks (Women’s Head Coach)
· AAA Provincial Championship with UWinnipeg Collegiate Wesmen (2011)
· AAA Volleyball Coach of the Year (2011)
· Currently teaches Physical Education at the UW Collegiate
