Baseball Expands Roster By Eleven

Head Coaches Guy Yarema And Mike Krykewich Announced Today The Addition Of Eleven Manitoba Born Players To Their Current Baseball Roster..


The University of Winnipeg Wesmen Baseball Program has expanded its current roster with the addition of 11 Manitoba born players to the program. Head coaches Guy Yerama and Mike Krykewich are pleased to announce the following additions to their current roster:

Josh Robinson (Outfielder - Winnipeg, MB) 
- Member of the St.James A’s Midget team - Member of 2008 Manitoba Prospects team 

Justin Voth (Pitcher/Utility  - Altona, MB)
- Member of the Altona Bisons Junior team 

Ethan Plante (Pitcher - Winnipeg, MB)
- Member of the St.James Midget team - Student at Sturgeon Heights Collegiate 

Jamieson Krentz (Pitcher/Utility - Steinbach, MB)
-Member of the Carillon Sultans Junior team - Member of the Winnipeg Wolf and Manitoba Prospects team 

Drew Haight (Catcher/Utility - Cartwright, MB)
 - Attended Dakota College at Bottineau - Played both baseball and hockey 

Matthew Smith (Infielder - Winnipeg, MB)
- Member of the Red River Valley Pioneers   

Bret Hesslewood (Pitcher/Utility - Brandon, MB)
- Member of the Brandon Cloverleaf’s - Played on the 2005 Team Manitoba squad at the Canada Summer Games

Caleb Smith (Pitcher - Roblin, MB)
- Played in the St.Boniface Legionnaires baseball system 

Michael Buffie (Infielder - Winnipeg, MB)
- Played and coached in the North Winnipeg Baseball Association - Playing experience in the Winnipeg Senior Baseball League 

Josh Malcolmson (Infielder - Winnipeg, MB)
 - Former collegiate player at Dakota State
- Member of the 2010 MJBL Championship team with St. Boniface Legionnaires 

Josh Loewen (Pitcher - Carberry, MB)
 - Played for Jamestown College (North Dakota) - Member of the 2005 Canada Summer Games team
- Played for the Neepawa Farmers in the Manitoba Senior Baseball League      

“We are very happy to add a variety of Manitoba born players to the University of Winnipeg Wesmen Baseball program. We expect them all to be great contributors to both our program and the University of Winnipeg, said head coach Mike Krykewich

The current Wesmen Baseball program currently features 21 players. All players will begin classes and training this September and prepare for their full slate of games beginning in the spring of 2012.
