Buchanan Joins Women's Volleyball Program

The University of Winnipeg and Women’s Volleyball Head Coach Diane Scott are pleased to announce that Erika Buchanan from Shoal Lake High School has commited to the Women’s Volleyball program for the 2011-2012 Canada West season."We are extremely excited and pleased to have Erika Buchanan joining our program. She is talented, skilled, athletic and a competitor, a proven winner at all ages. She will bring experience, grit, confidence and untapped potential to our team. She is a year older and wiser, and definitely stronger from her experience this past season, on both an athletic and personal front” added Wesmen head coach Diane Scott
Buchanan 6’2 middle led the Shoal Lake Sharks to a provincial championship in grade 10 and runner up finishes in grades 11 and 12. She was named the Manitoba Volleyball Association Player of the Year (14U and 15U) and was a member of three National Championship teams (14U, 17U, 18U).
An accomplished club player, she was a member of the Brandon Storm U17 team that won a club title in 2009 and the U18 team that won in 2010. She was a member of the 2010 club team that represented Canada at the NORCECA Women’s Junior Volleyball Championships in Tijuana, Mexico.
Buchanan was an honor roll student at Shoal Lake High School (2007-2010) and graduated with a GPA of 3.1.
