Sears Named To CW Second All-Star Team

Fourth Year Middle Lauren Sears Coming Off An Impressive Season Was Named Today To The Canada West Women's Volleyball Second All-Star Team..


The University of Winnipeg Wesmen in conjunction with the Canada West Universities Athletic Association are pleased to announce that women’s volleyball player Lauren Sears has been named to the Canada West Women’s Volleyball Second All-Star Team.

Sears a 5’11 middle recently completed her fourth season, finished in the top ten in several Canada West Conference statistical categories including, 3rd in hitting percentage at .300, 5th in points and 8th in total blocks. During the season she led the team with 261 total points, 64 total blocks, 23 service aces and placed second in kills with 197. Sears had a regular season high 21 kills vs Alberta on January 29, 2011. She was named the University of Winnipeg Female Athlete of the Month for November 2010 and the Female Player of the Week twice during the 2010-2011 season.

“We are very proud of Lauren’s development on and off the court. She has worked very hard in her dedication to our team, in the classroom, weight room and on the court. She has grown into an excellent leader and continues to impress each day. She is the student athlete we all love to coach”, added Wesmen women’s volleyball head coach Diane Scott.
