Wednesday, February 23, 2011 - The University of Winnipeg Wesmen in conjunction with the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) is pleased to announce that Mens Basketball player Nick Lother has been selected as the BlackBerry Canadian Interuniversity Sport Male Athlete of the Week for the period ending February 20, 2011. He was honoured as the Canada West Male Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
Lother, a fifth-year arts student averaged an exceptional 39 points per game as the Wesmen closed out the regular season with a hard fought 111-106 overtime loss and a 94-86 win at Lethbridge. On Friday, the 5-foot-10 guard scored a Canada West season-high 45 points and added 10 assists for a double-double while setting single-game conference records for most free throws made (22) and attempted (28). The following night, Lother was exceptional again from the free-throw line going 20-of-22 en route to a game-high 33 points and a 20.2 point-per-game average for the campaign, good for fifth place in Canada West.

Tuesday, February 22, 2011 - The University of Winnipeg Wesmen in conjunction with the Canada West Universities Athletic Association are pleased to announce that men’s basketball player Nick Lother has been selected as the Canada West Male Athlete of the Week for the period ending February 20, 2011.Lother ended his stellar five year career as a Winnipeg Wesmen in impressive fashion this past weekend in a two game series in Lethbridge.
The 5’10” guard scored a Canada West season-high 45 points in Friday’s 111-106 overtime loss to the Lethbridge Pronghorns. Lother broke a Canada West conference (also an all time Wesmen men’s basketball) single-game record for most successful free throws and attempts, going 22-of-28 from the line. Also in Friday’s contest, Lother dished out 10 assists, grabbed eight rebounds and nailed three-three pointers by playing in all 45 minutes of the game.
He played his final game as a Wesmen on Saturday and led his team to a 94-86 victory. He scored a game-high 33 points, was successful on 20-of-22 shots from the free-throw line, actually giving him the top two spots on the conference list, grabbed four rebounds along with three assists and three steals.
Lother finishes the 2010-2011 Canada West season as the fifth-leading scorer (20.2 points per game) in the conference and had a .801 free-throw percentage (125-156).
