Men's Soccer Beats Providence In Championship Match
The Wesmen Men's Soccer team defeated Providence College 6-4 in the MCAC Men's Soccer Championship match Sunday afternoon in Otterburne, Manitoba.
Winnipeg raced out to a 6-0 lead to take control of the match early on. Scott Ansell added a pair of goals, Lamin Colly, Adam Bromley, Paul Thompson, and Karius Lima added singles for the Wesmen.
Providence College made the match interesting scoring four late unanswered goals to make the final score 6-4.
Gaetan Infantino was named the Player of the Game. Adam Bromley was named the Tournamnet Most Valuable Player.

The Wesmen Men's Soccer team advanced to the championship final of the MCAC Men's Soccer Conference with a 10-0 semi-final victory over Canadian Mennonite University Saturday afternoon at Providence College in Otterburne , Manitoba.
Adam Bromley and Lamin Colly each scored a pair of goals to lead the Wesmen.
The number one seed Wesmen will face the number two seed Providence College in the Championship Final Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Providence College. Providence College advanced to the final defeating CUSB 4-1 in the earlier semi final on Saturday.

Wesmen Win MCAC Women's Soccer Championship
The Wesmen Women's Soccer team are champions. The Wesmen defeated Providence College 10-0 in the Championship Final Sunday afternoon at Providence College in Otterburne, Manitoba."It was a great conclusion to the first Wesmen Women's Soccer season. The girl's worked hard as a team for the entire match and were rewarded for their efforts", said Wesmen Head Coach Stacey Boudreau.
The Wesmen led 4-0 at halftime on goals by Janelle Deniset, Sheri Hince, Chantal Powlesland and Brittany Wheeler.
Winnipeg continued their strong play in the second half adding six more goals to their totals. Powlesland scored her second of the game, Sera Trunzo scored two in the half. Anastasia Stobbe Reimer, Nikki Tomoto and Morgan Geiger rounded out the scoring.
Wesmen defender Julia Anning was named both the Player of the Match and the Tournament Most Valuable Player.
"Julia was a consistent source of strength in the backfield. She provided multiple scoring opportunities for the team", added Boudreau.
