Brittany Habing Signs with Wesmen Volleyball

The University of Winnipeg and Women’s Volleyball Head Coach Diane Scott are pleased to announce the commitment of Brittany Habing to the Women’s Volleyball program for the 2010-2011 season.
Habing, a 5’8” setter was the #2 ranked player in Manitoba according to the Winnipeg Sun Coaches poll following the 2009-2010 high school season. She was also named the Varsity Athlete of the Year at River East Collegiate in 2009-2010 and was the starting setter for Team Manitoba that won gold at the 2009 Canada Summer Games.Brittany was the starting setter for the Storm Volleyball Club team that was recently victorious in the 18-and-under division at the 2010 Club Nationals. The win earned them a trip to the NORCECA tournament, which features teams from throughout North and Central America.
A distinguished five years at the club level saw Habing lead her teams to three gold medals (2007, 2009, 2010) and a pair of silver medals (2006, 2008). She was a member of three all star teams (2006, 2009, 2010) and was awarded the MVP at the 2007 Nationals.
In those same five years as a participant at the Manitoba Provincial Championships, Habing led her team to a pair of gold medals, at the U15 and U16 levels, and a trio of silver medals at the U14, U17, and U18 levels. Her strong play led to her selection as an all star on three occasions and the MVP of the 2006 Provincial Championships.
During her three years at River East, Brittany was an all star in ice hockey and field hockey. She was the recent recipient of the Most Valuable Teammate Award for the Kodiaks ice hockey team. She also participated in cross country.
