UWinnipeg & TRLabs Align
Signing an academic affiliate agreement that will benefit research

WINNIPEG, MB Research is an integral element
of a universitys success. Today, The University of Winnipeg and TRLabs have
signed into an academic affiliate agreement that will contribute to research in
information and communication technology (ICT) related fields and will
benefit research in the province, and industry in western Canada.
Essential Links
This
partnership will create an essential link between government, industry and
other academic institutions to help answer relevant research questions, and in
so doing generate new opportunities for industry and positive impact on the
economy as a whole.
"The agreement between The University of Winnipeg and TRLabs provides new opportunities to connect with academic, government and industry partners through the TRLabs consortium, said Sandra Kirby, University of Winnipeg Associate Vice-President Research & Dean of Graduate Studies. It will answer industry relevant research questions, which have an impact on our economy."
Access to the Global
ICT
"This
partnership will provide The University of Winnipeg with access to the global
ICT community with a particular focus on delivering value to our local western
Canadian ICT community, said Jeff Rohne, President & CEO of TRLabs. We
welcome The University of Winnipeg into the family of leading western Canadian
ICT academic institutions."
This
agreement provides UWinnipeg with access to industry partners and helps the
University align with Industry Canadas
strategic science and technology research priorities.
TRLabs
TRLabs is a
tri-partite, not-for-profit applied research information and communication
technology (ICT) consortium with an industry-led pre-competitive research and
development program. TRLabs fast tracks innovation to market by creating
innovative technologies, training students, and working with its partners to
accelerate technology commercialization. Labs in Edmonton,
Calgary, Saskatoon,
Regina, and Winnipeg employ 249. With 71 partner members
representing a unique synergy of industry, government, and university, technology
and applications research focuses on three research themes: Connected Media;
eHealth; and eHome. In its 23-year existence, TRLabs has trained 889 highly
skilled university graduates, created 342 technologies adopted for use by
