Student FAQs

Here are answers to some of our student's most frequently asked questions:

Q: Why can't I log into my student Webmail?
A: You need to log into Webadvisor first and change from your temporary password, to a new password of your choosing.  This username and new password will be what lets you log into Webmail.

Q: Why can't I log into WebCT?
A: WebCT will only allow users with active classes to log into the system.  If you had a WebCT course that ended last semester, there's a good chance that your ability to log in was automatically revoked by the system.  Until you enroll in a new WebCT class, you won't be able to log in. (remember: not all classes have a WebCT component to them - check wtih your prof if you're unsure)

Q: Why can't I print?
A: Please check your Webmail for your printing credentials.  They should be sent to you as soon as you become a student.  Also, please remember that you need to go to one of the pay-stations located in the Library or Uplinks to add funds first.

Q: My Webadvisor username and password aren't working.  I'm getting an "invalid user" error; Why?
A: This is common for students whose first names begin with the letter L.
Rule of thumb: if your first name starts with an L, the first character after the hyphen in your username is going to be an L and not the number one.

Q: How do I get a copy of my username and password?
A: You can go to Student Central, located on the main floor of the Centennial Building and request another copy.  You can also call them at 789-1444 or email them at student.central@uwinnipeg.ca but they tend to be quite busy so seeing them in person is your best bet.  If you just can't see them in person, please leave them a message and be patient - they will call you back!

Q: I have a question not answered here, what do I do?
A: You can visit http://libanswers.uwinnipeg.ca/index.php as a starting point.  Most of the common student questions have been asked and answered already.
If you still have a question about your courses, registration, tuition fees, etc., you're probably looking to speak with Student Central (see above)
If you forgot your password and need help with that, you're going to need to speak with the TSC Helpdesk at 786-9149 (opt 1), help.desk@uwinnipeg.ca or use this handy online form:
