Porcha
Palmer:
BA student, Human Rights and Global Studies
“I
decided to major in Human Rights and Global Studies because I hope to make a
difference in the world. I want to be a voice to those who remain unheard, and
give hope to those who have no hope.
What I value most about being at The University of Winnipeg is the quality of education I receive.
I am in my 3rd year of University right now (2nd year of the Human Rights program). I am pursuing a double major, with my second major as Religious Studies. I hope to have my degree complete by 2011.
In terms of what career I hope to pursue, I would like to be an ambassador for the UN. That would probably be my dream career. Otherwise, I would like to start up my own organization which would assist refugees who enter Canada, in terms of finding suitable housing, employment, proper education for adults as well as children, basic language classes (if necessary) and support groups."

Jeff Grantham:

Administration Students’ Association
“The flexibility the Faculty allows, whether it is through
courses, scheduling or its small class sizes, has been a huge benefit for
me. I've gained much more than just an excellent education at
UWinnipeg. I've developed skills that apply to all areas of life, gained
mentors and a great network of business contacts as well as long lasting
friendships.”

Tamara Stout:
Master of Arts in Aboriginal
Governance
She obtained her undergraduate degree in Geography at Carleton University, Ottawa. Tamara is from Kehewin Cree Nation, Alberta.
“We are learning from a unique perspective about our history, our present and our future. The Masters Degree in Aboriginal Governance at The University of Winnipeg is an innovative program because it melds together and provides context for Aboriginal policies, spirituality, language, and visions around governing. It also allows for networking and collaborative work with Indigenous peoples elsewhere. When I graduate I will return to Colombia where I have been living. My passions are the environment, biodiversity and traditional knowledge combined with the health field.”
