Strategic Review

Framework and Background Documents

The strategic review process will use The University of Winnipeg’s existing eight strategic priorities as a starting point for discussion. As we move into our next phase of strategic activity, members of the University community, both internal and external, will be asked to reflect on four themes that cut across the eight strategic objectives. These Cross-Cutting Themes are:

CROSS-CUTTING THEMES

  • The Changing Face of Post-secondary Education

  • Technology

  • Internationalization

  • External Relations and Partnerships

GUIDING QUESTIONS

The Strategic Review Steering Committee will meet with faculty, staff, students, and the community as well as receive written submission from interested parties. Three guiding questions will be used during consultation:

  1. What are two or three key initiatives in each area on which we should focus?
  2. What are two or three measures of success for each area?
  3. How do these two or three key initiatives support any or all UWinnipeg's Strategic Priorities?

WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR IDEAS FOR THE UNIVERSITY?

The Steering Committee established to guide this process will read all submissions. In late January and into February the Steering Committee will arrange focus groups and meetings for further discussion.

During the Fall of 2012, Faculties will be engaging in their own strategic planning processes. It is important that the plans and documents emerging from these processes are considered as part of the Strategic Review.

In Winter 2013, we will prepare a draft report which will be posted on this website. We will further follow-up with a series of public Town Halls to receive your feedback on the draft report.

A final report will go to the President and UWinnipeg's Senate and Board of Regents for consideration.
