Dr. Jorge Machín-Lucas

Dr. Jorge Machín-Lucas is an Associate Professor of Spanish Studies in the Department of Modern Languages & Literatures at The University of Winnipeg. He received a "Licenciatura en Filología Hispánica" (a degree in Hispanic Philology) from the University of Barcelona and his Ph.D in Spanish Literature at The Ohio State University.

   Dr. Machín-Lucas's areas of interest include:

• Twentieth and twenty first century Spanish poetry, novel and essay.
• Mysticism in literature as a literary, linguistic and ontological problem.
• All aspects of literary theory, with particular interests in intertextuality, self-referential discourses, comparative literature and cinema, politics and cultural studies. Semiotics applied to literary interpretation.
• Modernism and postmodernism in Spanish and foreign literatures: from nineteenth to twentieth century.
• Catalan and peripheral studies.
