Title:	Moon Voices Share! Indigenous Mothering: Creating a Place of Love for the Next 7 Generations
Description:	The Aboriginal Women Reclaiming Our Power Project (Moon Voices) of Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc., and the Institute for Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Winnipeg are honoured to invite you to participate in a very special upcoming event. “Moon Voices Share! Indigenous Mothering: Creating a Place of Love for the Next Seven Generations” will take place on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 6-8 pm in the Bulman Centre at the University of Winnipeg, and is free and open to all. This event is also child-welcoming and child minding and food will be available for all. If you require childcare, please call Kim at 786.9921 or Shannon at 918.2501 by Monday, February 6. From birthing and midwives, to breast-feeding, daycare, and traditional grandmothers' teachings, we'll talk about some of the many ways Indigenous women create a place of love every day. Cree/Métis scholar Kim Anderson writes that "if we can reclaim the Aboriginal ideology of motherhood, we can reclaim the power to make important decisions and restore balance to our communities". We sincerely hope that you are able to join the women of Moon Voices and our friends as we talk together about what Indigenous mothering means to us – the challenges, and the strengths. “Moon Voices Share! Indigenous Mothering: Creating a Place of Love for the Next Seven Generations” intends to create a sacred space and opportunity for Indigenous women to listen to the stories of other women, share our own stories, and think about the ways in which our roles as mothers, grandmothers, aunties, sisters and friends help shape our communities.
