Title: Michael Heyman: “Indian Nonsense: The Whimsical Revolution”
Description: Dr. Heyman will present the inside story behind his anthology, The
Tenth Rasa: An Anthology of Indian Nonsense Literature (Penguin,
2007). Heyman's text gathers together, for the first time in English,
a representative collection of nonsense texts from seventeen Indian
languages. The anthology offers a range of texts, from purposefully
nonsensical holy texts to folk rhymes and traditional theater to
literary nonsense resembling that of Edward Lear and Lewis Carroll,
from counting rhymes to Bollywood song lyrics. Please come meet the
editor, of this, the first ever anthology of Indian nonsense.
