University of Winnipeg Entrance Scholarships
Major Entrance Scholarships
Alumni Entrance Scholarship Program (AESP)
Criteria:
- High academic standing and promise.
- Noteworthy participation in extra-curricular activities in school and community.
- Leadership qualities and strength of character.
Value: $5,000
Each Manitoba high school may nominate one student. Nomination forms are sent to principals. A committee will select six to ten AESP recipients.
Marsha P. Hanen Entrance Scholarship
Criteria:
- Same as those of the Alumni Entrance Scholarship Program.
- Selected from among the AESP nominees.
Value: $10,500
$4,500 for Year I and then renewable for up to three more years at $2,000 per year.
Walter Leatherdale Entrance Scholarship
Criteria:
- Same as those of the Alumni Entrance Scholarship Program
- Must come from rural Manitoba and preferably from a farming community.
- Selected from among the AESP nominees.
Value: $24,000
$6,000 for Year I (tuition, textbook & living allowances) and then renewable for up to three more years.
Special Entrance Scholarships
These scholarships are offered, without the necessity of a scholarship application, to all graduates of Manitoba high schools who meet the conditions below. Senior 4 (Grade12) students must, however, apply for admission to the University by March 1.
- Only students with at least five approved 40S credits will be considered for a University of Winnipeg Special Entrance Scholarship (See below).
- A minimum average of 80% on the best five of the approved 40S credits. (Standing in full-credit Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses is approved for scholarship calculation purposes). Interim grades, submitted by high schools in spring, will be used.
- The two students with the highest incoming averages will be awarded the $4,000 Chancellor's Special Entrance Scholarships.
- Students with averages of 95.0% or higher will receive a $2,250 scholarship.
- Students with averages of 90.0% to 94.9% will receive a $1,750 scholarship.
- Students with averages of 86.0% to 89.9% will receive a $1,100 scholarship.
- Students with averages of 80.0% to 85.9% will receive a $800 scholarship.

Students with credentials of comparable standing from outside Manitoba also will be considered for these scholarships.
Other Entrance Scholarships
Entrance Scholarship application forms for all other Entrance Scholarships will be sent to Manitoba high schools and will be available here shortly. The application forms must submitted to the Awards Office by March 1, 2010.
