International Students

Over 5% of the student population at The University of Winnipeg are international students. That is close to 500 people from 68 different countries! The University of Winnipeg is dedicated to ensuring that all students have equal access to higher learning. As a result of this mandate there are support services and programs in place like financial assistance to make that happen.

There are a wide variety of ways to fund your education as an international student. Unless otherwise stated, all full-time and part-time students are eligible for Entrance and In-Course awards as long as they meet the published criteria. In addition to these programs, there are also some specific opportunities available just for international students that we would like to highlight for you. New! International Student Scholarship Opportunity for 2013

The University of Winnipeg is pleased to announce the creation of 53 new entrance scholarships for international students who will be attending the University for the first time in Spring 2013, Fall 2013 or Winter 2014. Values range from $1,000-$5,000.

The University of Winnipeg President's Scholarship for World Leaders, will be given to international students entering any of the University's divisions for the first time - Undergraduate, Graduate, Collegiate , PACE or ELP.

Application is now closed for the Fall/Winter 2013-14 academic year. Check back in December 2013 for details on the program for the next academic session.

USA Student Loans

US students attending The University of Winnipeg are eligible for student financial assistance through the following programs:

• Sallie Mae
• Veteran Affairs

Note: The University of Winnipeg will no longer be accepting new loan agreements under the U.S. Direct Loan Program (FAFSA) as of Fall/Winter 2013/14. New students for Spring 2013 or Fall/Winter 2013/14 should seek alternate funding as stated above.
