Inside the Richardson College for the Environment and Science Complex
In September, 2011, UWinnipeg officially opened the $66.58 million Richardson College for the Environment and Science Complex which is among the top research and education facilities in North America. More than 2,000 students, faculty and staff attend the complex at 599 Portage Avenue daily, strengthening science and sustainability education in Manitoba, and helping to rejuvenate Winnipeg’s inner-city and West End neighbourhoods. The facility includes 30 new teaching and research labs, a vivarium, and a 1,127 square foot rooftop greenhouse. It is one of the most energy efficient educational laboratory buildings in North America, and is targeting LEED Gold designation.
