CISCO TelePresence in Action

CISCO Telepresence Class

Students like Brianne Hellrung are getting the chance to connect with renowned scholars from around the world without leaving home. UWinnipeg is the first university in Canada to have three CISCO TelePresence units on campus, which enable high-quality distance>education and more effective collaboration with research sites in Manitoba and around the world, while promoting energy conservation through reduced travel.

In January, Brianne and UWinnipeg’s Global College class connected with Dr. Mishy Lesser, long time human rights and peace activist from Boston, for an in-depth lecture about the genocide in Rwanda.

“It was a very engaging discussion. Dr. Lesser could see the whole class and we could communicate directly with her,” said Brianne, who is graduating with a double major in Human Rights and Global Studies and Conflict Resolution.
